The Lord said to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-2 “Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing (ESV).”

On Wednesday evening 24th March, the 3Ci Business Forum turned momentarily away from the business of business and focused on that often scary area of personal finances. For who can even think of running a successful business when their personal finances are in disarray? In the arena of learning about business from the perspective of the Kingdom of God, this is even more important. This evening was devoted to the area of personal finances and developing and managing a Kingdom budget in our homes.

Piet spoke briefly about the cost of discipleship as illustrated by Jesus in Luke 14:28 “For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? (ESV)” Jesus here compares the cost of discipleship to a physical thing – the cost of building a tower. Drawing this out into the physical world of planning and designing and costing the materials and labour, it becomes clear that planning is an important consideration in any project – especially the lifelong “project” of being a disciple.
